The Mental Health Midlevel Practitioner functions within the Mental Health Outpatient Department to provide behavioral health assessment and treatment in close collaboration with the Psychiatrist, medical providers, and the behavioral health team.  Such treatment will include maintaining an independent caseload and assisting other mental health providers in their clinical treatment of patients.   The Mental Health Midlevel Practitioner provides a wide range of mental health treatments including medication management.  This position requires active and collaborative working relationships with the Psychiatrist, as well as other behavioral health and medical providers.  The Midlevel Practitioner often serves as a liaison between behavioral health and medical care, to ensure effective communication and continuity of care.   Difficult clinical decisions regarding complex and critical patient care issues will regularly involve the Midlevel Practitioner in potentially stressful working conditions.  The Midlevel Practitioner will serve clients with persistent and chronic mental illness, which may involve interventions to ensure the safety of the client and community. This position is largely conducted independently with consultation and support from the behavioral health team, particularly during crisis situations.   The Midlevel Practitioner demonstrates respect and care  within a framework of culturally competent communication.

This position leads various treatment activities such as didactic classes, taking group members to volunteer, and sharing the therapeutic group process.

This position provides a variety of treatment services including individual, group, family, and marital therapy to any and all clients from birth to elder. This position also provides clinical services such as intake/diagnostic evaluations, case evaluations, and crisis intervention; as well as acts as a liaison with other agencies as required. This position is a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team and provides regular clinical supervision, ensures proper maintenance of clinical records in accordance with insurance regulations and established SEARHC policies and procedures. A clinician ensures that clinical productivity standards as established and followed. This position is available for after-hours telephone contact for clients in crisis when needed and as assigned; in addition to providing clinical support in person or by phone as needed at any SEARHC location within the Behavioral Health Division.   There is no specific responsibility to managing an operating budget.  As a clinician the financial responsibilities lie in documenting all services as outlined first and foremost in the code of ethics of the profession. Clinicians maintain records necessary for rendering professional services to their clients and as required by laws, regulations, or agency or institution procedures. Clinicians include sufficient and timely documentation in their client records to facilitate the delivery and continuity of needed services. Clinicians take reasonable steps to ensure that documentation in records accurately reflects client progress and services provided. If errors are made in client records, clinicians take steps to properly note the correction of such errors according to agency or institutional policies, proper documentation is a requirement to ensure that SEARHC is able to bill accurately for services provided to client in accordance with state, federal, and insurance rules, laws and regulations.   Clinician III may be asked to supervise subordinates. This position is a covered position in accordance with the Indian Child Protection Act (ICPA).

Primary job function is to interface SEARHC bedside biomedical equipment with Cerner EHR.   The technician must have the ability to confer with the care giver, diagnose the equipment problem, repair on site if possible and/or offer solutions such as different modes of equipment operation or alternative equipment available.   As equipment with new medical technologies is incorporated into the EHR, the technician is required to upgrade his technical knowledge and skills to match that equipment.     Must be able to walk extensively on uneven terrain or slippery surfaces, work while bending, stooping, or reaching and have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely work on equipment in unstable conditions

The Clinical Assistant Trainee will be moved to a Clinical Assistant I position upon successful completion of training program.   Clinical Assistant I: The Clinical Assistant provides care to infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, adults and elderly in a rural ambulatory care clinic. Essential job responsibilities include rooming patients, performing clinical duties, maintaining lab and exam rooms, quality assurance activities and demonstrating customer service skills.   In addition, Clinical Assistants perform administrative and data management tasks. This position is essential in maintaining efficient clinic operations and patient flow in order to maximize the provider’s time and to insure access to care. This information is written in patients’ chart along with patients’ medical history.  This position works closely with providers giving support such as rooming patients, performing Point of Care testing, answering phones, processing provider orders, data entry, and participation in training processes.  Must demonstrate good judgment and be self-starting, but works under close supervision of provider.   Clinical Assistant II: The Clinical Assistant-II performs all of the job duties of the Clinical Assistant I.  However, the Clinical Assistant II has gained necessary experience as a Clinical Assistant I or has obtained higher level of certification. The Clinical Assistant II applies a more extensive knowledge of medical practice and terminology and judgment based on greater clinical experience.  CA II must process provider orders pertaining to diagnostic tests, referrals and other patient data that involves non-routine problems, timely and accurately.     Clinical Assistant III: The Clinical Assistant-III performs all of the job duties of the Clinical Assistant II, in addition the Clinical Assistant-III applies a more extensive knowledge of medical practice and terminology and judgment based on greater clinical experience. The more technical duties of the Clinical Assistant III require a higher level of training, competency or specific certification. The Clinical Dietitian position exists to function within the Medical Nutrition Services department.  This position serves as part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide patient care that is integrated, compatible with the patient-focused medical goals and culturally-appropriate in accordance with SEARHC’s strategic goals. Performs in a professional manner and respects confidentiality.   Required to make daily decisions on nutritional management about a wide range of clinical problems for both inpatients and outpatients.  This necessitates keeping up-to-date in all clinical areas to manage daily problems as well as on call.  Complex problems may require literature searches, consultation with medical staff, other dietitians, as well as other health professionals to determine a management plan.  They must prioritize their time within the constraints of food service, short term admissions and coordination of nutritional care with other members of the health care team.  Responsible for maintaining and applying current scientific knowledge about food and nutrition to individuals and groups in states of health and disease to promote optimal health outcomes within the social, economic and cultural context of the Alaska Native/American Indian population in accordance with SEARHC’s primary objectives and the policies and procedures of the medical nutrition services department.
