The Clinical Assistant-III performs all of the job duties of the Clinical Assistant II, in addition the Clinical Assistant-III applies a more extensive knowledge of medical practice and terminology and judgment based on greater clinical experience. The more technical duties of the Clinical Assistant III require a higher level of training, competency or specific certification. The CAIII is responsible for processing provider orders pertaining to diagnostic tests, referrals and other patient data that involves non-routine problems, timely and accurately.   The Clinical Assistant III provides care to infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, adults and elderly in a rural ambulatory care clinic. This position is essential in maintaining efficient clinic operations and patient flow in order to maximize the provider’s time and to insure access to care. Clinical Assistants (CA) perform administrative duties, data management and handle basic clinical tasks.  This information is written in patients’ chart along with patients’ medical history.  This CAIII works closely with providers giving support and performing essential duties such as rooming patients, performing clinical tasks including CLIA-waived laboratory testing, quality assurance activities and taking x-rays, start and administer IV fluids within the scope of practice certification, ECC monitoring and defibrillation, maintaining the lab and exam rooms, demonstrates excellent customer service skills.   The CA assists in answering phones, processing provider orders, data entry, and participation in training processes.  Must be able to make independent decisions within scope of practice based on experience and good judgment and be self-starting, and require little guidance to keep busy.   This position is responsible for leading Clinical Assistant I and Clinical Assistant II positions.

This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating consistent nursing practice among SEARHC Primary Care Clinics and daily nursing operations.  The Nurse Director also works to align all nursing staff with Primary Care Clinic Division goals and objectives as well as the mission, vision and values of Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC).         The position also functions as the supervisor and leader of the ELMC Clinical Support and Nursing department. The incumbent works closely with the Clinic Administrators and Medical Directors to improve clinic functions and flow, enhances the patient experience, and ensures staff training and competency.   The position assumes a primary responsibility for leadership and development of Primary Care Clinic Nursing staff.  This includes administrative supervision, programmatic development and continued quality improvement. The candidate provides direction for professional development of clinic nursing staff, maintains operational aspects of clinics in collaboration with the Medical Directors and Clinic Managers works cooperatively and closely with all department heads and staff to promote improved patient and staff satisfaction.   Incumbent is also responsible for managing the ELMC nursing function, including day to day operations, staff scheduling, equipment checks and competency documentation. This position directly supervises a group of floor nurses, nurse case managers, and medical assistants.             The position works within a very fast paced clinical setting.  The incumbent must be able to physically move quickly through the environment, at a quick pace, stand for long periods of time, have the ability to bend, stoop, climb and move to the floors.  The incumbent must be able to follow complex directions, multi-task, and solve problems quickly and accurately.  The incumbent anticipates the needs of others and seeks help when appropriate. Willingness to travel to remote sites in Southeast Alaska by small aircraft.
