In addition, depending upon the needs of the particular community, the Rural Physician participates in shared after- hours emergency call coverage. Medical care provided is consistent with SEARHC policy and procedure, Medical Staff Bylaws, and nationally recognized medical standards of care.

The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive eye care services to patients throughout the SEARHC region. The optometrist is on the Associate Medical Staff and cares for patients of all ages. This position provides support to the Optometrist - Lead in the day-to-day operations of the local Eye Clinic and in absence of the Optometrist – Lead will provide supervision of the local Eye Clinic staff.

Shifts include primary coverage of the Med/Surg & ICU, Emergency Department, and Night Shift.   This role provides comprehensive health care services for inpatients and emergency patients at Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center and serves as a community liaison and regional medical center for communities and clinics throughout Southeast Alaska This role requires high-level decision-making abilities for patients of all ages, from neonates to adults, caring for patients with medical and psychiatric concerns as well as laboring patients (FP only).

Provide comprehensive outpatient health care services for SEARHC patients. At times the Physician may be directed to provide services outside of the clinic to meet the patient’s needs, e.g., local long-term care center, Pioneer Home, patient’s home, and local schools. Mon-Fri.

Provides comprehensive family medicine services within the scope of training and experience to people of all ages and genders. Manages patients in the primary care clinic, emergency room and inpatient setting. Inpatient rounds and swing bed included.
