The Clinical Assistant provides care to infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, adults and elderly in a rural ambulatory care clinic. Essential job responsibilities include rooming patients, performing clinical duties, maintaining lab and exam rooms, quality assurance activities and demonstrating customer service skills. In addition, Clinical Assistants perform administrative and data management tasks. Information is written in patients’ chart along with patients’ medical history. This position works closely with providers giving support such as rooming patients, perform CLIA-waived laboratory tests, answering phones, processing provider orders, and participation in training processes and staff meetings. Must demonstrate good judgment and be self-starter, but works under close supervision of provider.
This position directly supports and assists the rural clinic provider. This position is essential in maintaining efficient clinic operations and patient flow in order to maximize the provider’s time and to insure access to health care for patients in rural communities. This is a job progression consisting of three job levels, designed to provide progressively more technical and independent work experiences to participants as part of the overall assessment of their ability and capability. Promotion between job levels is based on performance on prior assignments, required certifications, and the demonstrated ability to successfully handle more progressively responsible assignments. *Independent performance of all clinical duties will be based on satisfactory completion of competency assessments.
Pay rate is based on experience Level $16.18-$26.06/hr

This position would travel to other communities to provide coverage as needed.
The purpose is to develop the skills to facilitate the delivery of dental services by assisting the dentists with direct patient care (infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric) and the day to day operation of the SEARHC Dental Clinic.
The dental work environment can be both emotionally and physically challenging. The constant pace and frequent contact with apprehensive or uncooperative patients requires an individual that is communicative, patient, organized and efficient. Exposure to potentially caustic chemicals and pathogens necessitates an individual that is exacting in their techniques, careful and safety conscious. Postural demands of chair side assisting require adequate physical condition. One must be flexible in their schedule to accommodate for the occasional need to work into the lunch hours, after work and in emergency situations.
Responsible for management of the SEARHC clinic laboratories, including supervision of personnel, budget administration, quality assurance and management, supply procurement and contract negotiation, selection and purchase of equipment, all administrative laboratory functions, and compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Under minimal supervision, applies advanced technical skills and seasoned judgment to independently and competently provide a full range of sample test analyses and laboratory services in a hospital-based laboratory. Shift work and night and weekend call are required to provide 24-hour laboratory coverage in Sitka/WMC. Perform all levels of testing including CLIA defined high complexity testing. Works with infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.
The work typically involves full responsibility for all technical aspects of the laboratory and includes a wide variety of duties involving diverse and complex technical problems and considerations, i.e. procuring compatible, lifesaving units of blood for a patient with antibodies. Assignments involve such complicating factors as practical, economic or operating problems; inadequate or discrepant information about the use and capabilities of new instruments or methodologies; or requests for modified procedures, test alternative, or special studies to meet specific clinical situation. Decisions directly or indirectly affect the quality of patient care and can be “life or death” decisions or problems. Writes procedures for department of responsibility using the CLSI format, and coordinates procedure manual review, updates and distribution. Establishes a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed in department of responsibility, establishing parameters for acceptable levels of analytical performance, ensuring that these levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process from the initial receipt of specimen through sample analysis and reporting of results. Resolves technical problems and ensures that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications. Ensures that proper training is given to new employees during the orientation period and that regular training is given to all technologists when there are changes in their department. Assists the laboratory manager with evaluating the competency of all testing personnel. Assists the laboratory manager with Process Improvement activities associated with their departments. Understands and assists the laboratory manager with implementing CAP standards and CLIA regulations in their department of responsibility. Coordinates inventory levels with laboratory manager to maintain proper supply levels.

Position functions in the Social Services department within Wrangell Medical Center to provide psychosocial support to people, families, or vulnerable populations of all ages so they can cope with chronic, acute, or terminal illnesses in an inpatient, outpatient and Long-Term Care settings.
Works directly with patients to obtain and verify information during the registration process as well as other duties to prepare the patient for service delivery.
The Registered Nurse coordinates and performs a variety of nursing care procedures for patients/residents, requiring professional knowledge and consideration of specific patient conditions and treatments and the ability to work independently in completing assignments. Guidelines include physician’s orders; standards of care, nursing policies and procedures manuals, hospital policies, long term care policies, nursing duties include support to individuals of all ages and their families.
