This position provides a variety of treatment services including individual, group, family, and marital therapy to any and all clients from birth to elder. This position also provides clinical services such as intake/diagnostic evaluations, case evaluations, and crisis intervention; as well as acts as a liaison with other agencies as required. This position is a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team and provides regular clinical supervision, ensures proper maintenance of clinical records in accordance with insurance regulations and established SEARHC policies and procedures. A clinician ensures that clinical productivity standards as established and followed. This position is available for after-hours telephone contact for clients in crisis when needed and as assigned; in addition to providing clinical support in person or by phone as needed at any SEARHC location within the Behavioral Health Division.   There is no specific responsibility to managing an operating budget.  As a clinician the financial responsibilities lie in documenting all services as outlined first and foremost in the code of ethics of the profession. Clinicians maintain records necessary for rendering professional services to their clients and as required by laws, regulations, or agency or institution procedures. Clinicians include sufficient and timely documentation in their client records to facilitate the delivery and continuity of needed services. Clinicians take reasonable steps to ensure that documentation in records accurately reflects client progress and services provided. If errors are made in client records, clinicians take steps to properly note the correction of such errors according to agency or institutional policies, proper documentation is a requirement to ensure that SEARHC is able to bill accurately for services provided to client in accordance with state, federal, and insurance rules, laws and regulations.   This position is a covered position in accordance with the Indian Child Protection Act (ICPA).

The Clinical Assistant provides care to infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, adults and elderly in a rural ambulatory care clinic. Essential job responsibilities include rooming patients, performing clinical duties, maintaining lab and exam rooms, quality assurance activities and demonstrating customer service skills.   In addition, Clinical Assistants perform administrative and data management tasks.  Information is written in patients’ chart along with patients’ medical history.  This position works closely with providers giving support such as rooming patients, perform CLIA-waived laboratory tests, answering phones, processing provider orders, and participation in training processes and staff meetings.  Must demonstrate good judgment and be self-starter, but works under close supervision of provider.   This position directly supports and assists the rural clinic provider. This position is essential in maintaining efficient clinic operations and patient flow in order to maximize the provider’s time and to insure access to health care for patients in rural communities. This is a job progression consisting of three job levels, designed to provide progressively more technical and independent work experiences to participants as part of the overall assessment of their ability and capability.  Promotion between job levels is based on performance on prior assignments, required certifications, and the demonstrated ability to successfully handle more progressively responsible assignments.  *Independent performance of all clinical duties will be based on satisfactory completion of competency assessments.

The purpose is to develop the skills to facilitate the delivery of dental services by assisting the dentists with direct patient care (infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric) and the day to day operation of the SEARHC Dental Clinic.   The dental work environment can be both emotionally and physically challenging.  The constant pace and frequent contact with apprehensive or uncooperative patients requires an individual that is communicative, patient, organized and efficient.  Exposure to potentially caustic chemicals and pathogens necessitates an individual that is exacting in their techniques, careful and safety conscious. Postural demands of chair side assisting require adequate physical condition.  One must be flexible in their schedule to accommodate for the occasional need to work into the lunch hours, after work and in emergency situations.

Alaska Crossings is an expeditionary, wilderness based behavioral health program for adolescents. The use of appropriate, well maintained gear and equipment plays a critical role in managing the risks inherent with our programming. The Crossings Equipment Coordinator is responsible for the selection, inspection, maintenance, distribution and recovery of all equipment, gear, clothing and non-food consumable supplies for the expeditionary groups including, but not limited to ocean canoeing equipment, hiking equipment, moving water canoeing equipment, clothing, safety equipment, shelters, cooking equipment, first aid equipment and hygiene supplies. In addition, the Equipment Coordinator is responsible for managing and supervising operation of the Crossings Out-tripping Center (COTC) facility and staff, management of the gear and equipment inventory, and training Crossings guide staff in the proper use and care of Crossings gear and equipment.

This position functions within the pharmacy department at AICS Pharmacy to provide technical support to the pharmacists and the Department of Pharmacy Services. The work requires specialized knowledge, experience and skills to perform the technical work of a pharmacy and a thorough knowledge of the routine and procedures of the pharmacy department. The purpose of this position involves the preparation, review, supply, dispensing and control of medications and other pharmaceutical products. The position is essential to ensure all patients, departments and villages receive the medications they need and store them properly.  All work is performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Performs in a professional manner, respects confidentiality, and demonstrates qualities endorsed by following the seven Standards for Service Excellence outlined in the SEARHC Human Resources Manual.   Technicians must be able to interact with patients, nurses, health aids and practitioners to answer questions related to pharmacy services. They must know when to refer questions to a pharmacist and when to answer the question themselves. Must perform dosage calculations in order to correctly prepare compounded medications and be able to work quickly and efficiently without sacrificing accuracy. Must be able to maintain pharmacy equipment and troubleshoot problems. Must know how to meet the urgent needs of patient care areas, monitor and maintain stock.   This position requires handling of hazardous substances, standing for extended periods of time, usually 8 hours; walking to deliver medications all over the building and to pick up orders, lifting 30 lbs boxes.  There is potential for exposure to infectious patients or materials, sticks or cuts by needles and other sharp items, musculoskeletal injuries and potential for harm from burglary or robbery.  This position is a covered position for purposes of the Indian Child Protection Act.

Provide behavioral health skill development services for adolescents who are experiencing persistent, severe emotional disturbances, including anger/aggression, mood disorders, disruptive behaviors, impulsivity, and trauma responses.  Effectively co-lead extended wilderness expeditions in the remote Alaska Wilderness as a continuum in a therapeutic health service context. Maintain physical and emotional safety to elicit positive change in clients who come from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds throughout the state of Alaska. This position is in the Alaska Crossings Program, Behavioral Health Division of SEARHC. This position requires an increased understanding of working with adolescents who are experiencing severe emotional disturbances including basic interventions that are effective in attaining proficiency in social and life skills. This position also requires increased crisis intervention skills, and effective communication skills for leading educational groups with the clients. This position requires a working knowledge of how to respond to a client who is in crisis, in regard to their mental and medical status.   Prolonged, sustained and extreme physical and mental effort: extended expedition hiking, camping and canoeing.  Activities include living in tents, rainy and cold weather and extended darkness, while maintaining positive therapeutic interaction with up to 9 clients. While on expedition, staff will have contact with clients 24 hours per day. Expeditions have no facilities or equipment other than what is carried, by the clients/staff or cached along the route.   This position requires frequent work in remote 24-hour wilderness settings as well as in-town work before and after the expedition. Periodically, staff will be asked to help with Expedition Coordinator tasks, Operational Support, travel assists, and other duties as required. It is necessary for staff to model substance free behavior while on duty and at all times in remote locations; use or possession of alcohol, tobacco or any illegal drug is prohibited. The Staff Code of Ethics indicates staff agrees not to use illegal substances and agrees to use legal substances responsibly. This position is a covered position in accordance with the Indian Child Protection Act (ICPA)
