Using excellent communication skills, the Screener will screen all visitors, patients, vendors and public entering SEARHC facilities. The Screener will identify patients, provide masks, exhibit confidence with providing instruction to visitors on hand hygiene and proper replacement/storage of cloth masks during visit, ask screening questions and take the temperature (forehead) of anyone entering the facility. Screeners will provide directions and general information regarding services.   You will be provided the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and social distancing will be adhered to. The position exists to provide employee health services to SEARHC employees in accordance with established policies and procedures and regulatory standards.  Actively participates in committees established to promote employee safety and infection prevention and control.   The position coordinates the SEARHC employee health program for the consortium.  The person chosen for the position must be able to foster positive relationships with the employee health contacts at each of the clinics and facilitate different projects through those contacts.  The position makes decisions and recommendations regarding employee immunization status, laboratory screening and follow up results.  Actively plans annual employee health/flu vaccination clinics.  Maintains accurate recall system, collects data and reports to Infection Prevention & Control Manager.  Frequently communicates and coordinates employee health screenings, testing and results with employees, supervisors, clinicians and Human Resources.

Under minimal supervision, applies advanced technical skills and seasoned judgment to independently and competently provide a full range of sample test analyses and laboratory services in a hospital-based laboratory. Shift work and night and weekend call are required to provide 24 hour laboratory coverage. Perform all levels of testing including CLIA defined high complexity testing. Works with infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.    The work typically involves full responsibility for all technical aspects of the laboratory and includes a wide variety of duties involving diverse and complex technical problems and considerations, i.e. procuring compatible, lifesaving units of blood for a patient with antibodies. Assignments involve such complicating factors as practical, economic or operating problems; inadequate or discrepant information about the use and capabilities of new instruments or methodologies; or requests for modified procedures, test alternative, or special studies to meet specific clinical situation. Decisions directly or indirectly affect the quality of patient care and can be “life or death” decisions or problems. Writes procedures for department of responsibility using the CLSI format, and coordinates procedure manual review, updates and distribution. Establishes a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed in department of responsibility, establishing parameters for acceptable levels of analytical performance, ensuring that these levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process from the initial receipt of specimen through sample analysis and reporting of results. Resolves technical problems and ensures that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.  Ensures that proper training is given to new employees during the orientation period and that regular training is given to all technologists when there are changes in their department. This position is based in the Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center (MEMC) Rehabilitation Services Department with a primary focus on providing general Occupational Therapy (OT) evaluations and treatments which impact patient’s functional abilities.  The Occupational Therapist performs in a professional manner, respects confidentiality, and demonstrates qualities endorsed by following the Seven Standards for Service Excellence outlined in the SEARHC Human Resources Manual.  Services are to be provided in compliance with hospital and Home Health standards, licensure requirements, regulatory and practice standards of Occupational Therapy and the national professional guidelines established by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).   Occupational Therapists are health care professionals responsible and accountable for patient assessment, evaluation, establishing a plan of care and providing therapeutic interventions to assist people of a wide range of ages, diagnoses, abilities, skills and needs to optimize their quality of life and level of independence in activities of daily living.  The clinic needs to be able to inform clinical teams regarding decisions that involve OT while taking into consideration consultation provided by other care providers.  As patients are seen, recommendations may be made regarding their level of independence and rehabilitation needs which may impact services, care placement and further treatment.  The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for the contribution to program development, quality improvement, problems solving and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion.  Documenting and processing interventions appropriately must be followed for continuity of care and reimbursement for services.    The position may require occasional travel off site and out of town to provide services outside of MEMC.  This job can involve working in a small space, at a demanding pace with a variety of people and sometimes difficult personalities and situations; good judgment, tact and personal skills are necessary for positive working relationships between patients and co-workers.  This job involves potential risks that the therapist must work to avoid to the extent possible.  Exposure to infectious organisms is possible; use of precautions and appropriate protective equipment is necessary.  Latex may be present in the work place.  The job may require repetitive or heavy lifting, up to 50 pounds with physically demanding movements and positions; practice of good body mechanics and good judgment.  Services may be provided in a variety of settings including in-patient, out-patient, off-site locations, community events, home visits and remote locations.  There may be occasional travel to remote areas by boat or plane for multiple days possible in harsh weather.  This position is a covered position under the Indian Child Protection Act (ICPA).

This is a career ladder position with three levels designed to provide progressively more technical and independent work experiences.  Promotion between job levels is based on performance, skill acquisition, required certifications, and the demonstrated ability to successfully handle duties requiring progressively more responsibility.    The Optometric Assistant I position provides administrative assistance for the Eye Clinic and requires skills as a dispensing optician and paraoptometric technician.  Services are provided to infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.  Essential job responsibilities include the ability to multitask, assist patients, schedule appointments, address phone calls, maintain and organize patient records, be comfortable working with numbers, accurately conduct and record financial transactions, order from and maintain vendor relationships, assist with patient frame selection and ordering, assist with patient care and demonstrate excellent customer service skills in support of the SEARHC Eye Clinics.    This position is essential in maintaining efficient eye clinic operations by supporting both the providers and the optical dispensary.  Optometric Assistants must demonstrate good judgment, be self starting and able to work closely with fellow staff.  Customer service, attention to detail, accuracy and precise measuring skills are integral traits for this position.   The Optometric Assistant position is expected to provide excellent eye care services and exceptional customer service so the eye clinic is the provider of choice for our patients.  The position must abide by hospital and clinic policies and procedures.  This position requires extensive knowledge of ophthalmic terminology and judgment based on experience in a medical or ophthalmic clinic.  Employees are required to participate in on-line or self training modules to learn and maintain Optometric Assistant skills.  The Optometric Assistant must be able to multitask and prioritize duties to keep the eye clinic flow moving well, since at times multiple patients will require assistance.  This position requires attention to detail in order to accurately collect patient data, process eyewear orders, and maintain records, files and logs.  The Optometric Assistant is required to work with both patients and staff of different backgrounds and educational levels and must be able to communicate clearly and accurately document in a timely manner.
