This position functions within the pharmacy department and its primary purpose is to assure efficacious, safe, and cost-effective drug therapy and appropriate outcomes in the use of drugs and medicines. To prepare and distribute medications according to Federal and State law, provide patient counseling and education, and to advise the medical, nursing, and village staff on drug therapy. Select and maintain an appropriate drug inventory. Formulate and participate in quality improvement activities. The services directly impact the healthcare of our patients.  Performs in a professional manner, respects confidentiality, and demonstrates qualities endorsed by following the seven Standards for Service Excellence outlined in the SEARHC Human Resources Manual.   Independent professional judgment is used prior to the filling and dispensing of each prescription in order to evaluate it for appropriateness and safety. If any question arises, the prescriber must be consulted and recommendations for the alternate therapy are made by the pharmacist. Judgment failure could seriously affect the health care of one or more individuals. Independent judgment is also used to counsel patients, pharmacist must verify that patients understand their medications and appropriate outcomes of drug therapy. Counseling can directly increase medication compliance and decrease patient morbidity. Decision making is required in the Drug Utilization Evaluation process. This review performed by the pharmacist results in better patient care, educates medical staff, and can result in cost-savings to the clinic. Decision making is required in the formulation of policy and procedure which affects the overall operation of the department.    Pay Range $136,723.00 - $167,102.00 with $10K sign on and $10K relocation.

This position will be based in one of the SEARHC Rehabilitation Services settings (hospital, outpatient clinic or home health) and will have a varied focus depending on the location and the local need.  The primary focus will be to provide general Physical Therapy (PT) evaluations and treatments which impact patient’s functional abilities. Physical therapy is a core service provided by this healthcare organization.  The therapist performs in a professional manner, respects confidentiality, and demonstrates qualities endorsed by following the Seven Standards for Service Excellence outlined in the SEARHC Human Resources Manual.  Services are to be provided in compliance with hospital standards, licensure requirements, regulatory and practice standards of Physical Therapy and the national professional guidelines established by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).   Physical therapists are health care professionals responsible and accountable for patient assessment, evaluation, establishing a plan of care and theraputic interventions for a wide range of ages with widely varying diagnoses and skills needs who present with a full spectrum of movement abilities, dysfunctions and complexities. The clinician needs to be able to inform clinical teams regarding decisions that involve physical therapy while taking into consideration consultation provided by other care providers. As patients are seen, recommendations may be made regarding their level of independence and rehabilitation needs which may impact services, care placement and further treatment.  The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for the contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem solving, and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion.  Documenting standards must be followed for continuity of care and reimbursement for services. The position may require occasional travel off site and out of town to provide services or cover for providers in other SEARHC facilities.   Salary - $43.77-$53.45/hour DOE

Working out of Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital’s Department of Radiology in Sitka Alaska and/or Ethel Lund Medical Center in Juneau, the Physician/Radiologist provides interpretations of radiology imaging for multiple locations within the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC).  Responsible for interpreting diagnostic images from imaging modalities performed at SEARHC, including, but not limited to: radiography, fluoroscopy, mammography, Dexa, ultrasound, MRI, and computed tomography (CT).  Exercises independent judgment when interpreting images from these modalities.  Works with voice recognition systems to provide clearly written reports in a timely manner.  Decides when it is necessary to initiate direct contact with a patient’s provider to improve patient care.  Interprets films outside regular duty hours when contacted by a provider.   Responsible for the final interpretation of these images at SEARHC. Creatively works with the Department of Radiology and providers within SEARHC to shape new standard work practices and processes.

The Mental Health Midlevel Practitioner functions within the Mental Health Outpatient Department to provide behavioral health assessment and treatment in close collaboration with the Psychiatrist, medical providers, and the behavioral health team.  Such treatment will include maintaining an independent caseload and assisting other mental health providers in their clinical treatment of patients.   The Mental Health Midlevel Practitioner provides a wide range of mental health treatments including medication management.  This position requires active and collaborative working relationships with the Psychiatrist, as well as other behavioral health and medical providers.  The Midlevel Practitioner often serves as a liaison between behavioral health and medical care, to ensure effective communication and continuity of care.   Difficult clinical decisions regarding complex and critical patient care issues will regularly involve the Midlevel Practitioner in potentially stressful working conditions.  The Midlevel Practitioner will serve clients with persistent and chronic mental illness, which may involve interventions to ensure the safety of the client and community. This position is largely conducted independently with consultation and support from the behavioral health team, particularly during crisis situations.   The Midlevel Practitioner demonstrates respect and care  within a framework of culturally competent communication.

Maintain, repair, and install equipment and components in the hospital, clinic, health center, or other health care facilities at SEARHC.  Completes work orders for maintenance projects and completes all assigned preventive maintenance tasks.  Required to periodically travel to outlying communities to perform work, also on-call, call-back, and some overtime is required.   This position requires working experience and knowledge of both construction and maintenance of commercial healthcare settings.  Actions directly impact the ability for SEARHC to provide healthcare and the position is therefore a critical part of facility management‘s responsibility for ensuring all facilities and systems remain operational.   Special Effort Requirements, Mental:  Provide staff with guidance and assistance relevant to their program.  Make critical decisions regarding changing project conditions or concerns.  Presents complicated information in public forums and must be able to field questions and criticism from individuals and groups.  Special Effort Requirements, Physical: Walks extensively on uneven terrain or slippery surfaces.  Works while bending, stooping, or reaching.  Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and safely work on equipment in unstable conditions with ladders, scaffolding and building roofs with the proper safety equipment.   This position has an intermediate level of responsibility for the overall operation of SEARHC facilities.  Poor decisions or work quality can reduce the life of mechanical systems and components, which directly impacts patient care.  For example, use of the wrong lubricant or failing to conduct scheduled PM on an air handler could result in a failed motor.  This would cause a disruption in service.  Most work is completed with minimal over-the-shoulder assistance.  However, problems, quality issues, and performance issues are reviewed by the facility manager.  General problems are resolved through observation and discussion between the employee and supervisor.
