This position is based in the Rehabilitation Services Department with a primary focus on providing general Speech - Language Pathology (SLP) evaluations and treatments which impact a patient’s functional abilities.  Performs in a professional manner, respects confidentiality, and demonstrates qualities endorsed by following the Seven Standards for Service Excellence outlined in the SEARHC Human Resources Manual.  Services are to be provided in compliance with hospital standards, Joint Commission Home Health regulations, Alaska state licensure requirements, regulatory and practice standards of SLP and the national professional guidelines established by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.   Speech - Language Pathologists are health care professionals responsible and accountable for patient assessment, evaluation, establishing a plan of care and therapeutic interventions for a wide range of ages with widely varying diagnosis and skills needs who present with a full spectrum of movement abilities, dysfunctions, and complexities.  The clinician needs to be able to inform clinical teams regarding decisions that involve SLP therapy while taking into consideration consultation provided by other care providers.  As patients are seen, recommendations may be made regarding their level of independence and rehabilitation needs which may impact services, care placement and further treatment.  The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for the contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem solving, and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion.  Documenting and processing interventions appropriately must be followed for continuity of care and reimbursement for services.        This job can involve working in a small space, at a demanding pace, with a variety of people and sometimes difficult personalities and situations; good judgement, tact and personal skills are necessary for positive working relationships between patients and co-workers.  This job involves potential risks that the Therapist must work to avoid to the extent possible.  Exposure to infectious organisms is possible; use of precautions and appropriate protective equipment is necessary.  Latex may be present in the workplace.  The job may require repetitive or heavy lifting, up to 50 pounds, with physically demanding movements and positions; practice of good body mechanics and good judgement is necessary.  Services may be provided in a variety of settings including in-patient, out-patient, off-site locations, community events, home visits and remote locations.  There may be occasional travel to remote areas by boat or plane for multiple days, possibly in harsh weather.  This job is a covered position in accordance with the Indian Child Protection Act.   Salary: $36.46-$50.96 per hour/DOE

This position provides a variety of treatment services including individual, group, family, and marital therapy to any and all clients from birth to elder. This position is available for after-hours telephone contact for clients in crisis when needed and as assigned; in addition to providing clinical support in person or by phone as needed at any SEARHC location within the Behavioral Health Division.   There is no specific responsibility to managing an operating budget.  As a clinician the financial responsibilities lie in documenting all services as outlined first and foremost in the code of ethics of the profession. Clinicians maintain records necessary for rendering professional services to their clients and as required by laws, regulations, or agency or institution procedures. Clinicians include sufficient and timely documentation in their client records to facilitate the delivery and continuity of needed services. Clinicians take reasonable steps to ensure that documentation in records accurately reflects client progress and services provided. If errors are made in client records, clinicians take steps to properly note the correction of such errors according to agency or institutional policies, proper documentation is a requirement to ensure that SEARHC is able to bill accurately for services provided to client in accordance with state, federal, and insurance rules, laws and regulations.   This position is a covered position in accordance with the Indian Child Protection Act (ICPA).   Salary Range: Unlicensed: $31.93-47.38  Licensed: $38.93-$58.29   LCSW:$41.66-$62.49  Depends on Experience.

The Infection Preventionist (IP) is responsible for the surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections (HAI); monitoring reportable conditions, educating employees about infection prevention; and developing health system policies and procedures to insure rigorous infection prevention and control standards that meet Joint Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Centers for Medicaid/ Medicare Services (CMS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Federal Drug Administration (FDA), and other nationally recognized agencies and evidence-based infection prevention and control practices. Ensures timely reporting of infection prevention and control measures and outcomes based on CMS requirements.   The IP is responsible for providing infection prevention and control education to all areas of SEARHC. The IP assists in planning, developing, and implementing a comprehensive consortium-wide, infection prevention and control program. Sets goals based on risk assessments, evidence-based practices, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements in collaboration with the Infection Prevention and Control Committee. Conducts evidence-based research to determine appropriate actions by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data. Facilitates and supports the process of educating staff, patients, and visitors on matters of infection prevention and control.   The IP works in collaboration with the entire Performance Improvement team and is cross trained to assist in the department’s needs. The IP reports to and takes direction from the Infection Prevention & Control Manager.

Assists with training of new employees during the orientation period and as directed. Assists the laboratory manager with Process Improvement activities associated with their departments as directed. Understands and assists the Laboratory Manager with implementing CAP standards and CLIA regulations in their department of responsibility. Coordinates inventory levels with laboratory manager to maintain proper supply levels. Follows policy and procedures established by the Laboratory Medical Director and the Lab Manager.
