Under minimal supervision, applies advanced technical skills and seasoned judgment to independently and competently provide a full range of sample test analyses and laboratory services in a hospital-based laboratory. Perform all levels of testing including CLIA defined high complexity testing. Works with infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.    The work typically involves full responsibility for all technical aspects of the laboratory and includes a wide variety of duties involving diverse and complex technical problems and considerations, i.e. procuring compatible, lifesaving units of blood for a patient with antibodies. Assignments involve such complicating factors as practical, economic or operating problems; inadequate or discrepant information about the use and capabilities of new instruments or methodologies; or requests for modified procedures, test alternative, or special studies to meet specific clinical situation. Decisions directly or indirectly affect the quality of patient care and can be “life or death” decisions or problems. Writes procedures for department of responsibility using the CLSI format, and coordinates procedure manual review, updates and distribution. Establishes a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed in department of responsibility, establishing parameters for acceptable levels of analytical performance, ensuring that these levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process from the initial receipt of specimen through sample analysis and reporting of results. Resolves technical problems and ensures that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.  Ensures that proper training is given to new employees during the orientation period and that regular training is given to all technologists when there are changes in their department. Assists the laboratory manager with evaluating the competency of all testing personnel. Assists the laboratory manager with Process Improvement activities associated with their departments. Understands and assists the laboratory manager with implementing CAP standards and CLIA regulations in their department of responsibility Coordinates inventory levels with laboratory manager to maintain proper supply levels.   $34.15 - $46.78/hr DOE

This position is based in the Rehabilitation Services Department with a primary focus on providing general Occupational Therapy (OT) evaluations and treatments which impact patient’s functional abilities.  The Occupational Therapist performs in a professional manner, respects confidentiality, and demonstrates qualities endorsed by following the Seven Standards for Service Excellence outlined in the SEARHC Human Resources Manual.  Services are to be provided in compliance with hospital and Home Health standards, licensure requirements, regulatory and practice standards of Occupational Therapy and the national professional guidelines established by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).   Occupational Therapists are health care professionals responsible and accountable for patient assessment, evaluation, establishing a plan of care and providing therapeutic interventions to assist people of a wide range of ages, diagnoses, abilities, skills and needs to optimize their quality of life and level of independence in activities of daily living.  The clinic needs to be able to inform clinical teams regarding decisions that involve OT while taking into consideration consultation provided by other care providers.  As patients are seen, recommendations may be made regarding their level of independence and rehabilitation needs which may impact services, care placement and further treatment.  The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for the contribution to program development, quality improvement, problems solving and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion.  Documenting and processing interventions appropriately must be followed for continuity of care and reimbursement for services.   The position may require occasional travel off site and out of town to provide services outside of the Sitka Rehabilitation Services Department.  This job can involve working in a small space, at a demanding pace with a variety of people and sometimes difficult personalities and situations; good judgment, tact and personal skills are necessary for positive working relationships between patients and co-workers.  This job involves potential risks that the therapist must work to avoid to the extent possible.  Exposure to infectious organisms is possible; use of precautions and appropriate protective equipment is necessary.  Latex may be present in the workplace.  The job may require repetitive or heavy lifting, up to 50 pounds with physically demanding movements and positions; practice of good body mechanics and good judgment.  Services may be provided in a variety of settings including in-patient, out-patient, off-site locations, community events, home visits and remote locations.  There may be occasional travel to remote areas by boat or plane for multiple days possible in harsh weather.  This position is a covered position under the Indian Child Protection Act (ICPA).   Salary: $41.83-$48.61 per hour, DOE 25K Sign on Bonus 10K Relocation Bonus

The Residential Support Specialist (RSS) position functions within the SEARHC Behavioral Health division to provide direct support services for clients of SEARHC residential substance use disorder and behavioral health programs. Duties and responsibilities include maintaining and monitoring the safety and security of the facility and the program residents and direct supportive engagement with residents to provide services, support and structure that fosters a pro-recovery environment. This may include supervision of daily living activities and facilitation of therapeutic activities and groups.   This position requires an understanding of basic interventions that are effective in the treatment of substance use and/or mental health disorders. This position also requires crisis intervention skills, and effective communication skills for leading educational groups and activities with the residents. Residential Support Specialists must be able to engage in moderate physical recreation activities that support recovery.  SEARHC residential programs are residential living environments with 24-hour staff. Work schedules vary and may include rotation on evenings and weekends.   As an entry-level to intermediate-level direct service position, the RSS position requires a commitment to ongoing professional development in the areas of behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment and recovery. Each RSS will have a professional development track, based on individualized professional development needs. In addition, the RSS will be engaged in a SEARHC-funded, State of Alaska approved, Qualified Addiction Professional (QAP) certificate training program.   Salary: $25.00 - $30.80/hr. Depends on Experience
