The Clinical Assistant-III performs all of the job duties of the Clinical Assistant II, in addition the Clinical Assistant-III applies a more extensive knowledge of medical practice and terminology and judgment based on greater clinical experience. The more technical duties of the Clinical Assistant III require a higher level of training, competency or specific certification. CA III must process provider orders pertaining to diagnostic tests, referrals and other patient data that involves non-routine problems, timely and accurately.   The Clinical Assistant III provides care to infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, adults and elderly in an ambulatory care clinic.  This position is essential in maintaining efficient clinic operations and patient flow in order to maximize the provider’s time and to insure access to care.  Clinical Assistants perform administrative duties, data management and handle basic clinical tasks.  This information is recorded in patients’ chart along with patient’s medical history.  This position works closely with providers giving support such as rooming patients, performing Point of Care Testing (POCT), start and administer IV fluids and provide immunizations and other injections within the scope of practice certification, ECC monitoring and defibrillation, answering phones, processing provider orders data entry and participation in training processes.  Must be able to make independent decisions within scope of practice based on experience and good judgment and be self-starting and require little guidance to keep busy.    Salary - $22.74-26.06 per hour, DOE

The Clinical Dietitian position exists to function within the Medical Nutrition Services department. This position serves as part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide patient care that is integrated, compatible with the patient-focused medical goals and culturally appropriate in accordance with SEARHC’s strategic goals. Performs in a professional manner and respects confidentiality.   Required to make daily decisions on nutritional management about a wide range of clinical problems for both inpatients and outpatients. This necessitates keeping up to date in all clinical areas to manage daily problems as well as on call. Complex problems may require literature searches, consultation with medical staff, other dietitians, as well as other health professionals to determine a management plan. They must prioritize their time within the constraints of food service, short term admissions and coordination of nutritional care with other members of the health care team. Responsible for maintaining and applying current scientific knowledge about food and nutrition to individuals and groups in states of health and disease to promote optimal health outcomes within the social, economic, and cultural context of the Alaska Native/American Indian population in accordance with SEARHC’s primary objectives and the policies and procedures of the medical nutrition services department.   SALARY:  $36.68-$50.99/hr. To provide dental care or consultation to patients of all ages within the parameters of the Orthodontist’s area of experience for SEARHC.   The dental work environment can be both emotionally and physically challenging.  The constant pace and frequent contact with apprehensive or uncooperative patients requires an individual that is communicative, patient, organized and efficient.  Exposure to potentially caustic chemicals and pathogens necessitates an individual that is exacting in their techniques, careful and safety conscious. Postural demands of chairside assisting require adequate physical condition.  One must be flexible in their schedule to accommodate for the occasional need to work into the lunch hours, after work and in emergency situations.  One must be willing to accept the long hours, separation from family and stress of remote travel that are part of village field trips. 

The Health Educator II is a member of the SEARHC Health Promotion team and will be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating evidence based and promising health education strategies, interventions and programs as well as serve as a health education resource person.  Specifically this position addresses  policy level interventions that improve the likelihood of population health. This position also works on chronic disease risk factors in group settings and one-on-one lifestyle coaching in partnership with SEARHC providers. These services are provided to individuals, small groups, and communities in the SEARHC region and may include presentations to larger groups of community members and/or Tribal leaders. This position is responsible for developing work plans for similar programs, providing measurable outcomes and overseeing program goals and objectives for single regional programs or multiple programs in a single community.   This position requires multiple trips within the SE region and occasional trips within the State and/or Nation. The regional trips may require travel in a small plane.   The Health Educator needs to be available to offer consultation, advocacy and implementation of programs during non-traditional hours, i.e. evenings, weekends; high comfort level is necessary with irregular work when required and intense pressure to meet deadlines.  Applicant must be a non-smoker.   Salary: - $24.37-$33.17 per hour, DOE

This is the first level in a career ladder to become a Limited Scope Radiology Technician   The Imaging Trainee Assistant is a training/orientation position to develop the knowledge, skills, abilities, tools, and critical reasoning to reduce the learning gap in anticipation of becoming an Limited Scope Radiology Technician (LSRT) or registered imaging technologist.  The Imaging Trainee Assistant performs diagnostic examinations for assigned patients to gain experience that establishes a basis to guide practice and provide safe, quality care with supervision and guidance from experienced staff.   The Imaging Trainee Assistant incorporates theoretical knowledge into clinical situations and is able to perform basic skills and assist registered technologists. Practice is under the direct supervision of a registered imaging technologist, referencing policies, procedures, and standards.

This position functions within the pharmacy division and its primary purpose is to assure efficacious, safe, and cost-effective drug therapy and appropriate outcomes in the use of drugs and medicines. To prepare and distribute medications according to Federal and State law, provide patient counseling and education, and to advise the medical and nursing staff on drug therapy. Select and maintain an appropriate drug inventory. Formulate and participate in quality improvement activities. Maintain CMS pharmacy regulations for long term care. The services directly impact the healthcare of our patients. If any question arises, the prescriber must be consulted and recommendations for the alternate therapy are made by the pharmacist. Judgment failure could seriously affect the health care of one or more individuals. Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Pharmacy Services section of the CMS Long Term Care Operations Manual. Responsible for meeting CMS requirements for pharmacy services for the facility. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining Joint Commission's Medication Management standards for Critical Access Hospitals. These duties performed by the pharmacist results in better patient care, educates medical staff, and can result in cost-savings to the hospital. Responsible for management of the SEARHC clinic laboratories, including supervision of personnel, budget administration, quality assurance and management, supply procurement and contract negotiation, selection and purchase of equipment, all administrative laboratory functions, and compliance with all regulatory agencies.     $104,291.00 - $142,823.00 annually, DOE.

Maintenance Mechanics maintain, repair, and install equipment and components in the hospital, health centers, or other health care facilities at SEARHC.  This position completes work orders for maintenance projects and completes all assigned preventive maintenance tasks performing a wide variety of general maintenance including special projects as directed.  There may be on-call assigned by the Facility Manager as required by specific campuses.  The position may travel to outlying communities to perform work. Ability to work weekends will be required on occasion   This position requires working experience, knowledge and maintenance of commercial equipment and buildings used in the healthcare setting.  Actions directly impact the ability for SEARHC to provide healthcare and the position is therefore a critical part of facility management‘s responsibility for ensuring all facilities and systems remain operational. This position has an intermediate level of responsibility for the overall operation of SEARHC facilities.  Poor decisions or work quality can reduce the life of mechanical systems and components, which directly impacts patient care.  For example, use of the wrong lubricant or failing to conduct scheduled PM on an air handler could result in a failed motor.  This would cause a disruption in service.   Salary: $24.37-$28.00 per hour, DOE

Under the supervision of the Clinical Educator the Nursing Assistant Trainee will provide general nursing care in Acute Care/Long Term Care to non-acute and/or acutely ill patients/residents while maintaining a safe and clean environment.   Must have the ability to react in a calm functional manner and make sound judgments within scope of duties when taking care of ill patients/residents and in the event of emergencies. Job requires the use of a Hoyer lift patients/residents who are non-ambulatory on a regular basis.  Mentally requires a caring attitude in dealing with both acute and non-acute patients/residents and families on a routine basis.  Job pace is rapid and there is constant pressure on the job to complete staffing assignments and answer patient/resident call lights. The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive eye care services to patients throughout the SEARHC region. The optometrist is on the Associate Medical Staff and cares for patients of all ages. This position provides support to the Optometrist - Lead in the day-to-day operations of the local Eye Clinic and in absence of the Optometrist – Lead will provide supervision of the local Eye Clinic staff.

The Health Benefits Specialist is responsible for providing frontline health benefits enrollment to patients. Serves as a resource and referral person for patients for initiating health care coverage.   Salary:  $21.29-$26.55 DOE
