The Hospitalist position at SEARHC is a full-time, full spectrum role that has been structured in a way that fosters a better work life balance for employees who choose to work less and relax more, here in Southeast Alaska. Additional shifts and pay are available to those seeking extra income, all shifts are reimbursed. Shifts include primary coverage of the Med/Surg & ICU, Emergency Department, and Night Shift.
This role provides comprehensive health care services for inpatients and emergency patients at Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center and serves as a community liaison and regional medical center for communities and clinics throughout Southeast Alaska This role requires high-level decision-making abilities for patients of all ages, from neonates to adults, caring for patients with medical and psychiatric concerns as well as laboring patients (FP only).
Provides comprehensive health care services for inpatients, outpatients, and emergency patients at Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital and serves as a community liaison and referral physician for communities and clinics throughout Southeast Alaska.
Requires high level decision making for patients of all ages, form neonates to laboring patients to adults. Works, frequently as the sole provider, to ensure that health care delivered throughout the facility is of the highest quality. Covers multiple areas of the facility at the same time, responsible for all patients on the premises.
Salary: $79.33-$122.50 per hour, DOE
Location: Sitka with regular travel to Klawock

General Description:
- The position functions within the Behavioral Health Division to provide clinical psychiatric care and addiction medicine for SEARHC patients, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of substance use, mental, and emotional disorders. The physician manages integrated medical care for patients participating in the Sitka and Klawock Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP), Sitka Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program, and provides general psychiatry services based out of Sitka. The position requires regular travel from Sitka to Klawock for patient care and OTP oversight. Services are primarily outpatient in nature but may include consultation-liaison and emergency department support in some locations. The physician works collaboratively with the Clinical Director for Addiction Services to provide addiction medicine expertise and medical staff leadership. The physician is an active member of the interdisciplinary behavioral health team.
