Participates as provider (infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric) or consultant for SEARHC. The dental work environment can be both emotionally and physically challenging.  The constant pace and frequent contact with apprehensive or uncooperative patients requires an individual that is communicative, patient, organized and efficient.  Exposure to potentially caustic chemicals and pathogens necessitates an individual that is exacting in their techniques, careful and safety conscious. Postural demands of chairside assisting require adequate physical condition.  One must be flexible in their schedule to accommodate for the occasional need to work into the lunch hours, after work and in emergency situations.  One must be willing to accept the long hours, separation from family and stress of float-plane travel that are part & parcel of village field trips.

This position functions within the pharmacy department at Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium to provide technical support to the pharmacists and the Department of Pharmacy Services. The work requires specialized knowledge, experience and skills to perform the technical work of a pharmacy and a thorough knowledge of the routine and procedures of the pharmacy department. The purpose of this position involves the preparation, review, supply, dispensing and control of medications and other pharmaceutical products. The position is essential to ensure all patients, departments and villages receive the medications they need and store them properly.  All work is performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Performs in a professional manner, respects confidentiality, and demonstrates qualities endorsed by following the seven Standards for Service Excellence outlined in the SEARHC Human Resources Manual.   Technicians must be able to interact with patients, nurses, health aids and practitioners to answer questions related to pharmacy services. They must know when to refer questions to a pharmacist and when to answer the question themselves. Must perform dosage calculations in order to correctly prepare compounded medications and be able to work quickly and efficiently without sacrificing accuracy. Must be able to maintain pharmacy equipment and troubleshoot problems. Must know how to meet the urgent needs of patient care areas, monitor and maintain stock.   This position requires handling of hazardous substances, standing for extended periods of time, usually 8 hours; walking to deliver medications all over the building and to pick up orders, lifting 30 lbs boxes.  There is potential for exposure to infectious patients or materials, sticks or cuts by needles and other sharp items, musculoskeletal injuries and potential for harm from burglary or robbery.  This position is a covered position for purposes of the Indian Child Protection Act.

This position is based in the Physical Therapy Department , with a primary focus on providing general Physical Therapy (PT) evaluations and treatments which impact patient’s functional abilities.  Physical therapy is a core service provided by this healthcare organization.  Performs in a professional manner, respects confidentiality, and demonstrates qualities endorsed by following the Seven Standards for Service Excellence outlined in the SEARHC Human Resources Manual.  Services are to be provided in compliance with hospital standards, licensure requirements, regulatory and practice standards of Physical Therapy and the national professional guidelines established by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).   Physical therapists are health care professionals responsible and accountable for patient assessment, evaluation, establishing a plan of care and theraputic interventions for a wide range of ages with widely varying diagnosis and skills needs who present with a full spectrum of movement abilities, dysfunctions and complexities.  The clinician needs to be able to inform clinical teams regarding decisions that involve physical therapy while taking in consideration consultation provided by other care providers. As patients are seen, recommendations may be made regarding their level of independence and rehabilitation needs which may impact services, care placement and further treatment.  The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for the contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem solving, and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion.  Documenting and processing interventions appropriately must be followed for continuity of care and reimbursement for services. The position requires occasional travel off site and out of town to provide services.

The position functions within the Mental Health Outpatient Department to provide clinical psychiatric care for SEARHC patients, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders.  Treatment is primarily outpatient, but may include consultation-liaison and emergency services in some locations.  The Psychiatrist collaborates with other SEARHC providers, and works as a member of an interdisciplinary behavioral health team.    The Psychiatrist provides crucial behavioral health services that require a high level of expertise and knowledge.  The psychiatrist treats the most complex and seriously ill patients while providing education, consultation and support for patients, their families, and other behavioral health and medical providers.  The psychiatrist works under stressful conditions, with patients who may be disoriented, adversarial, and/or at risk of harm to self or others.  The psychiatrist provides differential diagnosis, determines level of care, and coordinates treatment with medical providers and other systems of care.  These clinical decisions are reached independently or in consultation with peers.    This position requires knowledge of treatment modalities for a wide variety of conditions, ranging from short-term interventions to long-term needs for patients with chronic or disabling issues.  The psychiatrist may be called upon to review patient management issues, quality of care, and risk management issues and outcomes. The psychiatrist may specialize in a particular area, such as child psychiatry or geriatrics, to provide specific treatments for these populations.  A responsible, respectful, and caring approach is essential to promote the most effective therapeutic relationship with patients, and positive collaboration with other health care professionals.  The psychiatrist demonstrates a culturally competence in communication with patients, families, and community members.   The psychiatrist is expected to attend to emergencies within their area of responsibility regardless of external commitments in their lives. This means there are times a psychiatrist will work late or relinquish an outside commitment in order to attend to their patients’ urgent needs.   The SEARHC psychiatrist lives in a small community. Privacy is not an easy commodity for she or he. Psychiatrists outside activities are easily monitored by their community. They are therefore often held to a higher standard, and at the least should not engage in negative role modeling.
