Job Overview:

Perform ultrasound echocardiogram, stress echoes, and limited vascular ultrasounds.  Works with providers and cardiologist to ensure patients are receiving proper exams and to prioritize exams in order of need.  Schedules, files, records and performs other office functions to improve department efficiency.  Collaborate with radiologists, cardiologist, providers and other technologists to improve patient care while understanding that lack of communication can adversely affect patient health.    Requires travel to remote communities in Alaska.  Works with SEARHC staff to create a strong team environment. Provides occasional weekend shift coverage and on-call services on a rotational basis as needed or requested. 


  • Performs diagnostic imaging using ASE/ARDMS protocols for the following exams, vascular, including DVT, arterial legs and arms, carotids; echocardiograms, and stress Echoes. Receives patients, explains procedures, and selects appropriate equipment to ensure good patient care. 

  • Office Duties. Performs office jobs in a small department including, but not limited to: answering phones, scheduling patients, printing reports, retrieving charts, researching problems, ordering supplies and helping providers, radiologists and co-workers as part of the SEARHC Radiology team.

  • Responsible for QA and QC for SEARHC. Documents exams performed and other information as required by the Joint Commission’s regulations.




  • Associates degree with certification in ASE (American Society of Echocardiography)
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography technology program preferred.


  • 1 year experience in echo ultrasound required


  • ASE certification
  • RDCS certification preferred or ability to obtain.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of the anatomy and physiology used in echocardiography
  • Considerable knowledge of digitized imaging and multiple computer systems.
  • Skilled at independently performing echo
  • Skilled in oral and written communication. 
  • Skilled in organizing and cleaning work areas and maintaining equipment in serviceable condition.
  • Able to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with radiologists, cardiologist providers, patients, computer technologists, and SEARHC staff. 
  • Able to perform multiple tasks in a small department.
  • Able to learn new imaging exams as required by radiologists or providers.
