Job Overview:

Provide overall administrative leadership and operational support for multiple SEARHC Dental clinics. This position requires the Operations Manager to facilitate collaboration between Dental clinics and other SEARHC departments as well as ensuring the Dental clinics are aligned with Consortium-wide policies & procedures. Supervisory responsibilities include: resolving employee and patient concerns, encouraging teamwork, overseeing staff and the disciplinary process, conducting monthly standing meetings to promote communication, and performing annual performance reviews for assigned employees. The Operations Manager is responsible for achieving strategic goals and meeting metrics set forth by management, assuring ongoing quality improvement, responsible for continuously meeting accreditation requirements, analyzing workflows and conducting process improvement initiatives, and monitoring finances and purchases. The Operations Manager will work alongside the respective Clinical Director and management team to lead the region. The Operations Manager will be assigned as the project lead and trainer for initiatives management pushes forth. Other duties as assigned.


The Operations Manager exhibits good judgment and administrative skills for effecting positive changes and delegate’s responsibility to appropriate managers and staff.  This position assures patient-centered health service delivery of the highest possible quality.


  • Provides leadership and oversight to the assigned Dental clinics. Establishes the mission, vision and strategy for Dental, consistent with the overall SEARHC mission, vision and strategy. Establishes a framework for improvement. Develops systems measures and goals and maintains ongoing tracking of system performance, adjusting resource allocation and administrative policies as needed to maximize quality and productivity. Shares information and facilitates development of effective communications systems for administration and staff. Provides guidance and support for department supervisors, administrative and support staff. Coordinates with the other departments and divisions of SEARHC, as they relate to the Dental operations. Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.


  • Develops administrative policies and procedures that provide quality improvement for staff and patient services. Fosters teamwork within Dental. Creates and maintains a positive work environment for all Dental clinics insuring high employee morale and professional, effective, and efficient work atmosphere. Uses regular staff surveys and feedback from staff to identify areas where improvement is needed.


  • Responsible for financial oversight of the assigned clinics that includes the implementation and monitoring of the Dental budget. Analyzes financial impact of changes in clinical activities and forecasts actual results versus approved budget. Supports the development of the annual budget and assists management to develop capital purchases for the clinic. Supports budget monitoring to manage and control expenditures (especially supplies). Mentors and directs staff to maximize resources efficiently. Maximizes cost efficiencies in the development of supply, equipment and inventory systems, managing operations and ensuring compliance within established budget targets for respective cost centers.


  • Monitors patient satisfaction and responds quickly to all patient complaints or concerns. Active planning and implementation of processes to improve customer satisfaction.


  • Participates as an active member of committees as directed by the Dental Practice Administrator. Plans for and implements both short term and long term objectives consistent with the SEARHC Strategic Plan. Identifies practice development opportunities. Provides innovative leadership for Dental. 


  • Works actively with tribal and Native organizations, in order to continuously improve care and to meet the needs of the community as much as possible. Collaborate with community, state-wide and national programs, agencies and initiatives in order to meet the objectives of SEARHC as directed by the Practice Administrator.            



  • Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare or administrative field
  • 3-5 years management experience in health care facility (Dental preferred), which must include experience supervising other employees, administrative oversight and program review.



  • Practice Management certification through MGMA, AAPC or similar organization preferred.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • In-depth knowledge in a health care administration setting including staffing and clinic organization, scheduling, and patient flow.
  • Should have a working knowledge of the revenue cycle, facilities management, and other infrastructure areas impacting the clinic.
  • Knowledge of applicable certification and accreditation processes.
  • Knowledge of liability and risk management principles.
