Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Analyst’s main priority is the accurate, complete, and timely coordination/execution of the payroll process.  The Senior Analyst will support the manager by providing complete, accurate, and timely preparation of the bi-weekly payroll and off-cycle supplemental payrolls.   


In addition to being responsible for processing on-time and accurate payroll runs bi-weekly, and occasional off-cycle supplemental payroll runs, the Senior Payroll Analyst will analyze and evaluate policies, procedures, and other information in order to carry out tasks and provide guidance to employees with problems and or complaints.   


  • Enter direct deposit requests/changes, W4 new hire/changes, and worker comp codes for new hires/job changes into LAWSON system software. Set up each employee with the correct profile, and information in EmpowerTime software, SEARHC’s Automated Timekeeping System. Answer EmpowerTime Web Entry calls from employees. Follow up on all emails/phone calls for issues on EmpowerTime Web Entry. Responds to all Payroll Web Help Desk tickets as well as emails.
  • Print and code paper timesheets. Audit to verify names, ID numbers, position numbers, and correct pay periods are on timesheets. Follow up with supervisors to collect and correct all missing, late, and problem timesheets. Audit both paper and online timesheets for all signatures, comments, leave code changes, CRL, FML, etc. Data entry of paper timesheets using csv file for upload to Lawson. Audits time entry for accuracy. Audits earnings & deductions calculations for accuracy. Mail paper paychecks on the appropriate day. Print copies of direct deposit receipts for terminated employees for mailing. File all timesheets at the end of the payroll. Send email notifications to employees and managers on timesheets that had to be corrected for various reasons such as overtime.
  • Time entry into LAWSON software. Audit time entry against the payroll register, verify child support, tax levies, and garnishments. Send the ACH file using SEARHC’s online banking system. Print and distribute payroll checks. Email direct deposit pay slips to employees. Prepare and submit check requests for payroll deductions to Accounts Payable. Sends direct deposit file to the bank in a timely manner to ensure employees are paid on time.
  • Create new hire/rehire folders and report employees to the State of Alaska Child Support Enforcement Division. Online verification of Social Security numbers with Social Security Administration. Purge all terminated employee PTO banks and removes from EmpowerTime Web Entry. Change terminated employees’ status to Term Final in Lawson.  Pull employee files to put in termination drawer.
  • Research all amended timesheets and calculate retroactive pay adjustments as necessary. Research lost payroll checks and assists to replace as needed.
  • Notify new employees and assist them with EmpowerTime Web Entry. Set up and assist managers with Empower Web Entry approvals. Save all necessary bi-weekly payroll reports to the finance folders for processing various projects. Filing, shredding, and various ad hoc projects as assigned. Maintain and update as needed the SEARHC Payroll Wiki page. Conduct training at the New Employee Orientation. Update presentations when necessary.



  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years payroll processing/management experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of overtime rules.
  • Knowledge of Federal and Alaska State Payroll Laws and Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Child Support/Garnishments rules.
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.
